About Desert Roots Learning
Desert Roots Learning is a small, K–5 mindfulness micro school in North Phoenix that offers a calm, connected, and child-centered approach to education. Rooted in mindfulness, outdoor exploration, and social-emotional growth, our program is designed to nurture the whole child—mind, body, and heart. We believe children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and inspired, and we’ve created a peaceful learning environment where curiosity is encouraged, emotions are honored, and every child is truly seen.

We nurture the whole child through mind, body and heart, by creating a learning space where children can thrive in every area of life. Our approach is grounded in the belief that learning happens best when children feel safe, calm and connected. Through nature-based experiences, intentional academics and a focus on emotional well-being, we help children grow with confidence, build meaningful relationships and develop a strong sense of self and belonging.
Social & Emotional
We focus on helping children grow socially and emotionally, not just academically. Through gentle guidance and daily connection, kids learn to understand their feelings, care for others, and build meaningful friendships. Our calm and supportive environment encourages patience, compassion, and confidence as children learn to express themselves, navigate their emotions, and engage with the world around them.

is key
Play is at the heart of how young children learn and make sense of the world. It isn’t a break from learning—it’s how learning comes to life. Through hands-on exploration and imaginative experiences, children strengthen critical thinking, develop language, build social connections, and grow in confidence. Whether they’re building, storytelling, or exploring outdoors, they stay engaged, and deeply connected to what they’re learning.
